Wonderful Pistachios Salmonella Outbreak Spreads Across Nine States

The CDC (Center For Disease Control And Prevention) has announced a multi-state food-borne infection known as the Salmonella Montevideo outbreak which has eleven confirmed infection cases across nine different states causing two hospitalizations. The outbreak, which started back in December 2015 has continued to spread up until February 2016 which was the time frame of the last reported case of Salmonella infection caused by the nuts. A recall for the pistachios has been implemented as the CDC works with the FDA (Food And Drug Administration) to investigate further.

The brand in question which is linked to the distribution of the Salmonella is Wonderful Pistachios of Lost Hills California (also sold as Paramount Farms and Trader Joe's) who have as of today (March 9th, 2016) have recalled a limited supply of products from stores. Since pistachios and nut based products have a long shelf live chances are there could still be packages laying around in people's homes across America and possibly parts of Canada as they are both sold in USA and Canada.

Those who have purchased Wonderful Pistachios recently are recommended to either throw them out or return them at store where they were purchased for a full refund even if the package has been opened and partially eaten.
